Summer Updates
Red Dirt Rebellion has had a busy summer! TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls, Austin, Texas' well known banked track league came up to participate in a Mashup Scrimmage hosted by Red Dirt at the National Guard Armory. The event helped raise funds to send the girls to San Diego for the national banked track tournament, Battle on the Banked Track III, in San Diego. The tournament took place July 25-27 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in a covered, open pavilion. It was Red Dirt's second year to participate in the tournament and this year they faced off against Team Legit, a team comprised of all-star flat track skaters and San Diego's Hard Corps.
On July 24th, the Gold Coast Derby Grrls from Miami, FL traveled to OKC to bout Red Dirt Rebellion on the banked track at the Cox Convention Center. The girls played hard but left a decent point gap by half time. Red Dirt came back strong in the second half, closing the point gap and picking up serious points on a few power jams. Unfortunately it wasn't enough and Miami held the lead till the end. Despite the loss, the girls showed improvement through their pack work and increasing agility. Red Dirt Rebellion would like to send a huge THANK YOU to Gold Coast for traveling the distance to play in a great bout!

Guardsmen in roller derby
OKLAHOMA CITY (Army News Service, March 9, 2010) -- Some Soldiers will do almost anything to stay in shape.
In the case of three Soldiers from the Oklahoma Army National Guard, they are choosing to lace up some skates and strap on elbow and knee pads as members of the Oklahoma City Red Dirt Rebellion Rollergirls.
For those new to the sport, this ain't your momma's roller derby of the '70s either, when practically every move was choreographed like professional wrestling.
